Adorable little soul

Miss Bianca Badham, Binks, the most adorable little creature in the world.

Bianca and I have been friends for three years, and I am truly in love with her. She is such a precious little thing, always making me smile!

She is a dancer with me, but for this shoot I didn’t want it to be about dance. I wanted it to be about her quirky little personality, and so we did what I thought would represent her jolly soul perfectly; jumping on the trampoline!

Goddess of the Ocean

This lovely lady is one of so much inspiration, and the greatest example of ‘living life to it’s fullest.’

Heather Hudson does what she loves most in life every single day; surfing. She is a goddess of the ocean, conquering the waves just about every day for a little over 34 years. Being a sponsored surfer and producer of the popular movie “The Women and the Waves,” she’s got the surfer’s dream. Not only is she amazing at what she does, but an amazing woman as well. This weekend I had the privilege of spending an entire morning with her, watching her roll with the waves and hearing the wisdom-filled stories she had to share. My two girl friends and I bundled up, gathered our cameras and road down to Rincon beach where we met Heather as she waxed up her board, getting ready to hit the waves. She was so kind and friendly to everyone who went by; I don’t think there was one surfer we passed on the way to or from the ocean that she wasn’t great friends with! I guess that’s what happens when you go to the same beach almost every morning for 16 years.

Her soles are rough and callused from all of her hard work over the years, and they tell so many stories.

We chitchatted on the sand and over coffee afterwards, and she is such an incredible woman. I know this sounds cheesy but she really is beautiful from the inside out. She was a little camera shy, although her beauty is not something one should hide!

She has such a mellow lifestyle and is so lucky to be able to do what she loves so much!

Barefoot in Apache Land

This past January, I went on a school trip to the Apache Reservation in Arizona to build houses for the Apache tribe. The experience was unbelievable; so life changing! I can’t begin to describe how we felt, not to mention the such thankful souls of the Apache tribe that we got to meet.

During our hard work at one of the work sites, a little boy slowly came out of his little shack to play with us and see what was going on. He was so shy at first, but slowly began to come out of his shell as we tried to connect with him. The land we were on was rough and full of discarded objects, many of which could have been very tough on the soles! We all noticed at once that as this little boy was scurrying about his yard, climbing and getting his hands on whatever he could, he was barefoot! We figured it was due to the lack of money to buy shoes, but it must have been normal for him to go around without them; probably very callused little feet! We all became pals with this little barefoot Apache boy, giving him a yummy lunch to eat and climbing with him around his jungle gym of old, trashed items.

Because I hadn’t yet started this blog when I was in Arizona, I didn’t get a picture of just his feet. It’s a bummer I didn’t think of it, it would have been really interesting! I did manage to get a few photos of the boy in his local land, though, as well as a few other pictures of our adventure! Enjoy!

P.S. If you have any neat pictures of people who aren’t from your original land (especially their feet), it would be really interesting to compare the differences between people from different places around the world! I’m sure this little boys feet were much more roughed up and callused than the little boys in my neighborhood!
