Frolicking in the forest

Three little girls went out to play
They danced, they frolicked, they laughed as they may
Such beautiful girls,
Their skirts in twirls,
Gathered in bliss.

The moments that I am so happy to have captured

Soles gone wild

This past weekend was the the last of our dance performances. It was a bitter sweet weekend; we were sad to be done but were having so much fun performing! On Saturday night the dressing rooms were filled with the most energy and excitement that we had had during all of our shows. All the girls were doing each other’s make up and giving the last encouraging words before going onstage. There is such an amazing sisterhood between all of the girls in our Company, and I’m so happy to be a part of it.

All of my girlfriends that dance with me are so beautiful and graceful, I wanted to take some shots of their lovely faces! Here are some photos I took backstage with all the jittery girls.

Dancing munckins

Hello hello!

I have had the privilege to work with the non-profit, youth run organization called Everybody Dance Now!, in which we get to teach free hip hop dance classes to youth who would otherwise no be able to do what they love so much; dance. I have been involved with Everybody Dance Now! for two years, but have just recently begun teaching a new dance class at Goleta Girls Inc. Being a part of EDN! is such an amazing experience; we are transforming the lives of young kids through what we all have such a big place in our hearts for. Having the privilege of dance in my life has made such an impact on me, and being able to share that with other people is so rewarding!

The weekly class I teach at Girls Inc. is a blast, the girls are so sweet and inspirational! They pick up the choreography we teach them so quickly, and they sure do add all the sass needed to complete the ensembles. Being a part of EDN! is a really important thing in my life, and these cuties make it all worth while. They light up when it is time for dance and are sad to see us go at the end of class; and we are sad to leave them!

Since these little munchkins mean so much to me, I wanted to share their soles and beautiful faces with you all!

Be sure to check out Everybody Dance Now!’s website too!

Dancing, dancing, dancing!

This weekend and next, my fellow dancers and I will be working our little bums off performing five, two-hour-each shows! Today we rehearsed and rehearsed, trying to get every little step, every little movement, perfect. The dances were as magical as can be, telling the stories of the choreographers as well as the dancers. The stage was our canvas, and each movement painted the pictures of hardships and joys each of us has felt.

After an extremely long day/night of dance, we are exhausted, but I thought I’d share a few pictures I took of our rehearsal. The photos don’t even begin to describe the feelings you have as you watch or perform each dance, but here is a little sneak peak!

Capturing photos of dance at just the right moments is so difficult; if you have any secrets or photos to share I’d love it!!
